Kevin Elmer

"I started working for Community Connections of Franklin County in June 2019. I am employed as a Peer Homeless Specialist at the Barnabas House Homeless Transitional Shelter. I assist individuals in finding permanent housing, employment if they are able to work and provide them guidance on everyday life experiences that one may experience as an adult. Every day presents different trials and tribulations, however; with the support of my co-workers and amazing supervisor I have managed to navigate through this a little easier.

Working for Community Connections of Franklin County has made me a better person. I have always enjoyed helping people, and since I have started in this position I truly feel like I am making a difference in people's lives; as I can relate to some of their situations and enjoy being there to help them in any possible way, even if sometimes it's just to lend an ear."

Ashley LaBare

"Hi! My name is Ashley and I have been employed with Community Connections of Franklin County for over a year. I enjoy my job more than I have ever enjoyed a job. One of my favorite things about working for Community Connections is that we are all a family. If you need something, someone will ensure you have it. If you are having a bad day, you always have someone to turn to that you trust.

Community Connections of Franklin County has also helped me on a personal level. As I have lived experience with mental health, and as I stated above, there is always someone that is there for you, whether you need a shoulder to cry on or weather you just need to vent. Since starting my employment with this agency my overall personal anxiety has lessened greatly. When I first gained employment with the agency, I actually thought I was going to need to file for disability because I couldn’t even go into a store by myself. Now, I know that I am not alone - I’ve conquered so many of my fears and I could not have done that without the help of my supervisor and my co-workers.

So, if you’re seeking employment to work for an amazing agency and have a job that you don’t dread going to, Community Connections of Franklin County is the place to go!"
